Is the range of this WLAN stick better than that of the AC430 (without MIMO) stick?

The range will probably be about the same. However, it will be able to transmit data much faster, because MIMO systems can transmit considerably more bit/s per Hz bandwidth used, due to the use of several transmitting and receiving antennas. This hiter also supports USB 3.0, which is good for data transmission.
