Is it possible to plug the microphone directly into the mobile phone with an XLR to jack connector cable?
Yes. That works. I use it like this. I would recommend the iRig as an adapter: IK Multimedia iRig PRE
Ps: Some camera apps on mobile phones don't allow external microphones. You might need an app like "Open Camera" to use it.
