Question about WD Elements Portable

My WD My Passport for Mac 2TB from 2014 has failed due to water. A colleague of mine has recommended that I purchase an identical product or from the same range, just newer, which has a WD20NMVW platter so that parts can be replaced. Does anyone know if this is the case with the WD Elements mentioned above? Many thanks for your help.

I can imagine that this is the case - but I can't say with 100 per cent certainty

To determine which hard drive is installed, you would have to open the product, which is not possible. It is therefore not possible to replace parts. However, this 4TB Elements certainly contains a different hard drive than a 2TB MyPassport, and it is NTFS-preformatted for Windows.
