Shopped a bit hastily and didn't realise that I don't have a USB-C port on the desktop...What USB-C to USB-A adapter can I use here to make everything run smoothly? Thank you!

Helpful answer

I have plugged an adapter from USB-C to USB-A socket in between. It says on it: one side: 10Gbps, other side: 480 Mbps. The adapter has a blue inlay which suggests USB 3.0 specification (however, I can no longer get through the USB specifications).
I use the camera for video calls on a weekly basis and have not noticed any limitations so far.
