The LED lights up in blue or green, depending on the situation. (This is "decided" at start-up) Unfortunately, there is nothing about this in the operating instructions. What do the different colours mean?

When I plug it into my Mac, the LED is only green for a fraction of a second. After that, it only lights up blue. I suspect that this is a short self-check that the disk does when it is plugged in.
