Fabric backgrounds can be used as well as paper rolls. I use the Westcott fabric in grey. I can store it in a relatively small RAKO box and take it to my photo shoots and when I take it out it doesn't crease. But it's also a question of price. My boys prefer the green screen for videos to free up the background. Colleagues of mine swear by paper, but they have a studio that they have set up. So it always depends on what you need the background for and whether you're on the road or in the studio. And the costs, not to mention....
