Product details

Miranda July has written a significant novel titled "On All Fours" about femininity outside the norm and desire beyond conventions, setting new standards in many ways.

A moderately known artist gives herself a trip from the West Coast of the USA to New York for her 45th birthday. She wants to prove something to herself and plans the journey alone by car, stepping out of her comfort zone. However, she doesn't get far. Just a few kilometers from her suburban home, she seemingly falls in love with Davey, the man who cleans her car window at the gas station. She checks into a cheap motel, has her room completely redesigned by Davey's wife, an interior designer, and imagines herself into a different life.

Author's Profile

Miranda July, born in 1974 in Barre (Vermont), is a filmmaker, artist, and writer. Her works have been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art and the Venice Biennale. For her feature films "Me and You and Everyone We Know" (2005) and "The Future" (2011), she wrote the screenplay, directed, and played the lead role. "No One Belongs Here More Than You," her debut as an author, won the Frank O'Connor Prize, the world's most lucrative short story award. She developed the messaging app "Somebody," which does not transmit messages electronically but seeks nearby people to deliver them in person. Miranda July lives in Los Angeles.

Stefanie Jacobs, born in 1981, lives and works as a freelance translator in Wuppertal. She has received multiple awards for her translations of K-Ming Chang, Lisa Halliday, Ben Marcus, Edna O'Brien, and many other authors, most recently the Heinrich-Maria-Ledig-Rowohlt Prize.
