The fairy tale of the brave four animals who set off to Bremen to become musicians and find a better life is known all over the world. The Brothers Grimm story, presented in the cheerful and ironic style of the popular illustrator and children's book author Janosch, tells of freedom, friendship, and hope, making it ever relevant. The German edition of the large-format picture book was first published in 2004 by Bremer Edition Temmen, and the first paperback edition was released in 2010. Since then, Janosch's version of the Bremen Town Musicians has been translated into 22 different languages, including Latin, Esperanto, and Ukrainian. Now, for the first time, the beloved picture book is also available in a Danish edition translated by Ulrich Predelli. Janosch, born on March 11, 1931, is known by his real name Horst Eckert and has been living a reclusive life on the Canary Island of Tenerife for many years.
