Troy has fallen. The Greeks have won their bitter war and could return home as victors. All they need is a good wind to set their sails. But the wind does not come. The gods are angry, and so they camp in the shadow of the city they have destroyed. In these troubled days, hierarchies begin to crumble, and old feuds are reignited. Largely unnoticed by their quarreling captors, Briseis remains in the Greek camp. She allies herself wherever she can, for while Briseis has survived the war, the time of peace may prove to be even more dangerous.
