Decades ago, a fire broke out in the tunnels of a coal mining region, and the flames still blaze underground. Margarete and Fritzi are the last remnants of youth in a vanishing town. Their inheritance is nothing but a desolate area, ravaged by destruction. Previous events are only fragmentarily recorded. However, the two sisters refuse to accept this state of affairs. Determined, they set off on an expedition to explore their own origins. For only those who know their history can build a hopeful future.

With the rediscovery of a long-forgotten river, a new life becomes tangible for Margarete and Fritzi. Finally, there is also a reason to send out invitations for a grand celebration: "Come riding on your bicycles! Come riding on your white horses!"
