The over 800-kilometer section of EuroVelo 3 between Hamburg and Aachen offers not only interesting cities but also relaxation in a variety of natural landscapes. The northern section between Hamburg and Osnabrück is characterized by typical North German scenery with green river meadows, quiet forests, moors, and geest ridges. After crossing the foothills of the Teutoburg Forest, you will enter the cycling region of Münsterland, where well-developed bike paths lead to impressive castles. Through the picturesque Lippe meadows, you will then reach Wesel on the Rhine, which you can follow past several major cities all the way to Bonn. A visit to the magnificent cathedral in Cologne should definitely be included along the way. Finally, at the northern edge of the Eifel, you will need to tackle some inclines to marvel at the Aachen Cathedral, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
