1925: Hulda Gold has risen to the position of head midwife at the women's clinic in Berlin-Mitte. She fights for the well-being of pregnant women against the dominance of male doctors. She has great trust in the young doctor Johann Wenckow. A delicate bond forms between them – even though he comes from the affluent villa district of Frohnau and his parents are not exactly thrilled about their promising son's connection with the independent midwife. Hulda herself feels torn between two worlds. On one hand, there is the lively neighborhood in Schöneberg, where she is still "Miss Hulda," and on the other, the wealthy villa colony by the Havel with all its expectations and strict etiquette.
