The concept of ecology is not only central to current debates about climate change but also runs through artistic, philosophical, social, and technological discourses. In its current redefinition, it refers to multidimensional and multidirectional connections and interactions of living processes, technical and media practices, that is, to the complex relations of human and non-human actors. The book understands ecology as a problematic term. Its multivalence opens up new fields of action, but its openness and versatility also raise questions, particularly regarding its genealogy. The interdisciplinary contributions examine, against this background, what political and social effects a rethinking of community in ecological terms brings about and what consequences this entails.
