This student workbook is designed for learning spelling in grades 5 and 6 and contains exercises on three relevant areas of German orthography: the spelling of morphologically simple words, the spelling of complex words, and the capitalization within sentences. The tasks, which have been successfully tested in many classrooms, allow students to gain insight into the regularities of word spelling and sentence-internal capitalization. The task design takes into account current findings from graphematic and orthographic didactics research. This includes orientation towards fundamental patterns of word spelling, such as words with open and closed syllables, syllable joint spellings, and syllables beginning with 'h'. Based on this, the phonographic-syllabic and morphological regularities of words can be developed.
