The first two volumes of Giwi Margwelashvili's autobiographical novel "Captain Wakusch" have long been out of print and are highly sought after in antiquarian bookstores. Now they are finally available again! In the first volume "In Deuxiland," he describes his youth as a foreigner in the Third Reich. However, he is not just a child of exiles in Germany as a jazz lover who indulges in forbidden music at the jazz bar "Kakadu," but also a youthful rebel. The first volume ends with the end of the war, and the second volume "Sachsenhäuschen" picks up the thread again. Now Wakusch, Margwelashvili's alter ego, suddenly finds himself a prisoner of the Soviets. After an odyssey through various dungeons, he is taken to the notorious special camp No. 7, the former concentration camp Sachsenhausen. There, he experiences misery and humiliation, but also moments of hope, such as a theater performance.
