Product details

J.R.R. Tolkien collected the scattered messages from Middle-earth and the island of Númenor, and his son Christopher organized them chronologically, added comments, noted references and any contradictions to "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Silmarillion," thus compiling a comprehensive book of stories, a treasure trove for any connoisseur of Middle-earth.

John Ronald Reuel Tolkien was born on January 3, 1892, in Bloemfontein and grew up in England. From 1925, he was a professor of English philology at Oxford and soon gained great recognition as one of the most esteemed philologists far beyond the borders of England. He had a particular fondness for the old Nordic languages. His world-famous books "The Hobbit," "The Lord of the Rings," and "The Silmarillion" have significantly shaped fantasy literature and have been translated into over 40 languages. Millions of readers have since been captivated by the events in Middle-earth. J.R.R. Tolkien passed away in 1973 in Bournemouth.
