The present volumes provide, for the first time in German, an overview of Spanish art, ranging from late antiquity through medieval art, the painting and sculpture of the "Golden Age," to the much-discussed contemporary art scene. Although Spanish art has made significant contributions to the European cultural landscape, it has almost been forgotten in Germany. Only since Spain has begun to assert its place in Europe with determination has interest in its art started to grow again. This work offers insight into the history of Spanish art from late antiquity to the contemporary art scene, primarily aiming to spark interest in specific questions and facilitate entry into this field of research.
