The Secret of the Villa

Berlin, 1925: Hulda Gold has risen to the position of head midwife at the women's clinic in Berlin-Mitte. She fights against the dominance of male doctors for the well-being of pregnant women. She only has great trust in the young doctor Johann Wenckow. A delicate bond develops between them—despite the fact that he comes from the affluent villa district of Frohnau and his parents are not exactly thrilled about their promising son's relationship with the independent, headstrong midwife. Hulda herself feels torn between two worlds. On one hand, there is the lively neighborhood in Schöneberg, where she is still "Miss Hulda," and on the other, the wealthy villa colony by the Havel with all its expectations and strict etiquette. But where there is glamour, there is also shadow. And soon Hulda realizes that a life means little when it comes to maintaining traditions.
