Kanji are characters of Chinese origin and are essential for forming nouns, verbs, and adjectives. Japanese teacher Tomomi Uchimura-Staiger presents 200 Kanji in this two-volume textbook in a clearly structured manner, sorted by increasing difficulty. This includes the corresponding radicals as well as guidance on how to correctly write the characters. One of the special features is that the Japanese learner learns both the Kun and On readings, meaning the Kanji in their original meaning and how they can combine with other characters to form new words. Additionally, the author provides many example words and sentences (not just empty phrases!). In the subsequent exercises, one can apply their newly acquired knowledge. Another advantage is the easy and quick lookup of the Kanji.
