Gelsomina Settembre, known to everyone as Mina, is a social worker in one of the most rundown neighborhoods of Naples, the Spanish Quarter. She comes from a better background, which makes many wonder about the fervor with which Mina advocates for the sick, weak, and poor. After her marriage to Claudio ended, the 42-year-old reluctantly moved back in with her mother. However, there is a glimmer of hope: the clumsy yet undeniably attractive doctor Domenico, who has his practice next to Mina's office. Meanwhile, prosecutor De Carolis is dealing with a puzzling case: a serial killer is terrorizing the city. After each of his seemingly random murders, a vase with twelve roses is found at the crime scene, some wilted and others still fresh. What the prosecutor doesn't know is that Mina receives a rose every day.
