1. Jaron Der König vom Feuerland

To this day, the name August Borsig stands for the industrial revolution in Prussia and especially for locomotive construction. The legendary reputation that the major entrepreneur, born in Breslau in 1804, earned in Berlin extended far beyond the borders of Germany. The path of the carpenter's son seems to have been mapped out early on: He was to follow in his father's footsteps and later perhaps even become a master builder for the king. In his heart, however, August Borsig was passionate about fire and iron - his most ardent wish was to learn the blacksmith's trade. Obsessed with the idea of catching up with the technical lead of English and American industry and manufacturing his own locomotives in Prussia, he founded his own mechanical engineering workshop northeast of the Oranienburg Gate, in the so-called Feuerland, at the age of 33. In 1841, the young entrepreneur's first locomotive was launched.

2. Jaron Tod im Aufbruch

"But we still have no idea if we will score points with the shower gel," Schulz said quietly. Wagner smiled indulgently. "Just imagine you had to write a five-year plan. Did you know back then what would really sell in the second or third year? No, of course not, that's why it's a plan. It just has to be plausible and create a good atmosphere. The people at the Treuhand need to be convinced that our Super S will be a hit in the East. Period. Berlin-Mitte, early 90s. The Berlin scent has become Berlin Beauty, and a consultant from Bavaria is showing the East Germans how to make big moves during these transformative times. Until a death disrupts the internal peace. Karl Bircher, recently a major, now a chief criminal commissioner, begins the investigation.".

7. Jaron Antje Lange

Antje Lange is in her early 40s when a phone call abruptly jolts her awake: "Were you born on July 17, 1941, in Danzig? Then I am your mother." This is how she learns out of the blue that she and her brother were adopted as young children. The image of a happy family shatters for her. Letters reveal the story behind the failed covert adoption: about Antje's biological mother, who never came to terms with the release of her baby and continually extorts new photos and reports. About Antje's social parents, who have tried to keep the secret for decades. And about the adoption mediator, who is caught in the middle. "Turning Point" is a touching novel interspersed with numerous original letters - and thus also serves as a snapshot of the early years of the Federal Republic.

8. Jaron Loreley

"Did the girl live up there alone?" "Nope, together with her father and her brother who is four years older. The father was out shopping. When he came home, the fire brigade was already at the door." "So he saw that there ... his daughter's body?" "It was unavoidable." "So what? Some colleagues from the protective police are a bit obtuse. "How did he take it?" The man raised his shoulders. "Quite decently." "Decent?" "He didn't scream." "Fine." Everything indicates that the overweight schoolgirl Gudrun Läpple threw herself out of the fourth-floor window. Only detective superintendent Loreley Kubitko doesn't believe it. Perhaps because she herself is very overweight?.

9. Jaron Tiergarten Blues

The author is available for readings. "Cold-Blooded Murder of a US-American in West Berlin" is a crime case surrounding the spectacular collapse of the Congress Hall in 1980. This new Kappe crime novel by the successful author Bettina Kerwien tells the story of Charles M. Cramer, a German-born US-American found dead near Bellevue Palace in October 1980. He had been brutally beaten to death, and particularly gruesome was the fact that Cramer's right hand was cut off, later discovered on the bank of the Spiegelteich in front of the Congress Hall, which collapsed in May of the same year.

Detective Inspector Peter Kappe and Detective Inspector Wolf Landsberger, assigned to the case, soon wonder whether the perpetrator placed the severed hand there by chance or intended to send a message. Cramer had been involved in the construction of the Congress Hall in 1957 as a civil engineer. The collapse of the southern outer roof of the building, referred to by Berliners as the "pregnant oyster," was attributed to inadequate construction planning and resulted in the death of an editor from the radio station Sender Freies Berlin. Did Cramer's murderer seek revenge for the journalist's death? Kappe and Landsberger are inclined to believe this theory.

However, the investigation proves challenging, especially with interference from the Allied Command and the commander of the US troops in Berlin. The case becomes even more perplexing when the autopsy reveals that a significant amount of time elapsed between the amputation of Cramer's hand and his murder. Are there possibly two different perpetrators involved? Kappe and Landsberger remain in the dark until they uncover why Cramer left Berlin 25 years ago and emigrated to the United States. Bettina Kerwien has crafted a fast-paced crime novel centered around the dramatic collapse of the Berlin Congress Hall, a symbol of German-American friendship during the Cold War.
