Today's lighting technology offers countless possibilities and ideas. However, careful planning is essential for successful implementation. This begins with having a sufficient number of power outlets and wall sockets.

First, the room receives good basic lighting, which is controlled by a switch directly at the door. After that, the desired ambiance is created: art objects, reading areas, communication zones, or workspaces are each bathed in a specific light, giving the room contours through different brightness levels.

Direct and indirect lighting

Direct light – such as the flame of a candle – evokes pleasant sensations but has the disadvantage of being poorly shielded and falling directly into the eyes.

For this reason, indirect light should be preferred, meaning a shielded light source that is reflected by walls and ceilings. To ensure that the light casts as wide a beam as possible, it should be mounted at a sufficient distance from the illuminated surface. Wall washers should also be installed at a height of at least 170 cm so that the light source is above eye level. Lastly, the use of floodlights in small or low rooms should be carefully planned, as they may otherwise fail to achieve their intended effect.
