Well, I've had a 24-piece encyclopaedia in mine for a long time, spread over 3 compartments and 1 book weighs 2 kg. This means that 3 shelves are each loaded with 16kg. We also had a small aquarium in there for a while, which was 30*30*30. The boards are thin, about 1cm, but stable. They lie on 4 welded-on metal plates where the board is screwed in place. That should work. It is quite stable, I myself have several Glasterris on it and it stands very well and doesn't wobble. The distance in width is also sufficient to prevent it from tipping over.

You would probably need a smaller Phillips screwdriver. So that it can grip the screw properly. If that's not the problem, then maybe pre-drill 1, 2 millimetres so that the screw likes through the coating.

Yes, it's the same. Is China goods... Micasa makes more margin. All the screwing involved in assembling is a bit tedious but otherwise a good product:)
