The Homematic IP rain sensor immediately detects rain and snowfall as soon as precipitation begins and reports it to the Homematic IP app via the Homematic IP access point or locally to the CCU2/CCU3. This not only keeps the user informed but also enables numerous automatic actions, such as retracting an awning. Note: This is a kit that needs to be assembled! The large, sensitive sensor area registers even the smallest amounts of rain and snow. Thanks to the individually adjustable triggering behavior via the app, the sensor can be used in a variety of ways: notifications in the Homematic app about incoming precipitation, triggering actions such as retracting awnings or closing roof windows in conjunction with a Homematic IP roller shutter actuator, issuing warning messages, e.g., for laundry drying outdoors, and use in visualizations as part of general weather data collection and display. Extensive parameterization allows for adaptation to local conditions and response to precipitation. Power supply (a suitable power supply can be found in the accessories): 10-19 VDC (max. 320 mA) or 12 VAC/50 Hz (max. 400 mA). The adjustable parameters include: sensor sensitivity, allowing adaptation to local rainwater drainage values, filtering of consecutive precipitation reports, e.g., due to water running down the sensor surface, setting the delay before reporting the end of precipitation, and choosing the response time (setting the measurement and detection interval). Direct pairing of actuators via the Homematic central unit CCU2 or the Smart Home central unit CCU3 using conditional switching commands is possible.
