lol That's exactly what I asked myself after buying a new filter! So plastic really is (unfortunately) household waste. But it has a metallic net. On the net I only find recommendations for household waste unless it's a large amount. That's all I could find.

I am a customer and not a recycling specialist. My old filter ends up in the rubbish. If you're conscience about it, don't buy plastic....
