The Right Bike Saddle

Finding the right saddle is a science in itself. However, you can narrow down your options if you know the distance between your sit bones. You can either have this measured at a specialty shop, or you can sit on a piece of corrugated cardboard, pull your legs up, and then measure the distance between the indentations made by your sit bones in the cardboard. Now you can look for a saddle that is wide enough for your backside. Another criterion for choosing is your seating position. Depending on whether you shift your weight more forward or backward, you should choose a saddle with a wider or narrower nose. A comfortable padding is also important. However, make sure it is not too soft, as this will help you avoid uncomfortable pressure points on longer rides.
