This connection reduces stresses that typically act on press-fit sleeves. Tolerances in the bottom bracket housing can be compensated, leading to better parallelism of the bearings, which in turn results in smoother crank movement and reduced noise. The improved fit of the bearing/sleeve unit protects the bearings from overload and enhances their durability.
