Sandflex® blades are safer under all conditions, especially when used in older machines or by less experienced operators. Proper blade tension is crucial to ensure a straight cut and a long blade lifespan. If the tension is too low, the blade can twist or bend upwards. Both scenarios lead to overloading the blade and result in uneven, curved cuts. Excessive tension can damage the blade and the saw frame. A general rule of thumb is: the harder the material, the lower the stroke speed should be, and the greater the feed should be. Burned chips indicate that the feed is too high. If teeth are breaking, the feed is also too high. Fine, powdery chips are a sign that the feed is too low. The correctly chosen feed can be recognized by fine, curled chips. The teeth should not touch the workpiece when the machine is started. As a rule of thumb, at least three teeth should engage the workpiece simultaneously.
