During the setting process, the rivet mandrel is pulled with the jaws of the setting device, deforming the hollow rivet until it reaches a predefined, secure fit in the component. Finally, the rivet mandrel breaks off at the designated point, the predetermined breaking point, and the remaining mandrel can be recycled. The remaining rivet mandrel is the part of the mandrel that stays in the hollow rivet and can take on an additional securing function depending on the application.
