Product details
Our chisels (also known as gouges or carving chisels) are handcrafted from a special tool steel. The forging process further enhances the material structure of the cherry wood chisels. The heat treatment in a salt bath achieves a hardness of ± HRc 61 across the entire usable length of the blade, significantly exceeding the requirements of the German DIN standard. A self-developed polishing technique creates a smooth, scratch-free surface that allows for a clean cut and easier penetration into the wood.
Our chisels are manufactured with a cutting angle of 25° from the factory. This angle is excellent for soft to medium-hard woods. However, before the chisels are used for the first time, they should be worked on with a sharpening stone to achieve a razor-sharp edge. To ensure many years of successful use, we recommend cleaning the tool with a lightly oiled cloth after each use. The oil film applied this way protects the chisel from moisture and thus from rust.
