Rasps + Files
Rasps + Files
The rasp is a tool for machining relatively soft materials such as wood, plastic, horn or soft stone. The rasp teeth (strokes) of the rasp made of hardened steel protrude from the blade. They therefore tear chips out of the material during the cutting movement. The remaining deep marks in the surface can be further smoothed with a file, for example. Due to the considerably larger teeth, a rasp removes much more material than a file. Files are multi-bladed, cutting tools for removing material.
