Application area: For maintenance and cleaning work on buildings. Special regulations apply to chimneys regarding fastening and fall protection. Regardless of the climbing height, either fall protection or climbing protection can be used (combination is not allowed, as the rescue of persons is hindered by the fall protection).

A medical examination for suitability for working at heights (e.g., G 41) is required, depending on the risk assessment (including the group of people, total climbing height) of the respective ladder systems. Proof of the load-bearing capacity of the ground must be checked and approved for each construction project by a responsible expert in structural safety.

A passage barrier (safety door) is recommended. If the exit point is located on traffic routes or workplaces, a passage barrier is required. The vertical overlap of consecutive ladder runs must be at least 1,680 mm. At unsecured exit points, railings must be installed on both sides of the ladder or led into the exit level. The gap at the exit must not be larger than 75 mm.

Entry measurement: Distance from the entry level to the first rung is 100 - 400 mm. When exiting forward, the top rung must be at the height of the exit level. For ladders with climbing protection, the free area in front of the ladder must be at least 800 x 0.8 m. These dimensions should also be adhered to for new installations in existing buildings. The gap between the ladder system and the railing must not exceed 120 mm. The connection to the climbing protection must be made and released from a secured standing position.
