The SunSun UVC clarifiers CUV-218 / CUV-224 / CUV-236 / CUV-324 / CUV-336 / CUV-624 / CUV-336 are suitable for direct connection to the filter. Larger UVC units must be connected via a hose.

The filter is placed on the pond bank and connected to a suitable pump (not included) in the water. The water is channelled through the filter and then returned to the pond in a purified state.

Filters with a connected UVC clarifier must be installed at a safety distance of at least 2 metres from the water in accordance with the applicable VDE guidelines.

SunSun has chosen a linear water flow design in the housing of the CUV-100 series. The water stream is directed straight past the UVC lamp without any rotation.

The UVC radiation from this PL lamp kills harmful algae, bacteria, and pathogens, keeping algae growth under control.

The UVC pond clarifier typically achieves clear pond water within 14 days, provided you combine it with a biological pond filter. UVC pond clarifiers irradiate the pond water with UV-C radiation in a flow reactor. The UV radiation alters the tertiary and quaternary structures of the algae proteins, leading to the death of the algae. The algae clump together into larger particles, which can be easily removed from the water cycle through mechanical pond filtration.

The lifespan of the UVC lamp is between 7,000 and 10,000 operating hours. Therefore, we recommend replacing the lamp at the start of each season when the water temperature in the pond rises, and cleaning the quartz glass of the UV lamp at that time.

How it works:
Water circulates through the two openings of the UVC clarifier, reducing all impurities such as suspended algae, pathogens, bacteria, or parasites. The longer this contact is maintained and the higher the UVC output, the more effective the killing is.

What size do you need?
For koi ponds, you can calculate 3 watts of power per cubic meter of pond water for the UV clarifier.
