The draw knife is used by pulling and should never be pushed. If the draw knife gets stuck in the wood, please pull the knife backward out of the cut. The Kirschen draw knives have a blade thickness of 4 to 4.5 mm at the bevel edge and are standardly delivered with a cutting angle of 25° for soft to medium-hard wood. For hard and coarse wood, the angle should be adjusted up to 35°.

5. Kirschen Chisel white beech handle
Cherry Chisel
The chisel is short, lightweight, and conforms to DIN 5139 with side bevels. It features a flattened beechwood handle.
Our chisels (carving tools, chisels) are hand-forged from a special tool steel. The forging process further improves the material structure of the Cherry chisels. The heat treatment in a salt bath achieves a hardness of ± HRc 61 across the entire usable length of the blade, significantly exceeding the requirements of the German DIN. A self-developed polishing technique ensures a scratch-free surface, allowing for a smooth cut and easier penetration into the wood. Our chisels are factory-made with a cutting angle of 25°, which is excellent for soft to medium-hard woods. However, before the chisels are used for the first time, they should be worked on with a sharpening stone to make the edge razor-sharp. To work successfully with the chisel for many years, we recommend cleaning the tool with a lightly oiled cloth after each use. The oil film applied in this way protects the chisel from moisture and thus from rust. This significantly extends the lifespan and enjoyment of the tool.

Kirschen Chisel 4 mm with Beech Handle
The chisels (also known as carving chisels or gouges) are hand-forged from a special tool steel. The forging process further enhances the material structure of the Kirschen chisels. The heat treatment in a salt bath achieves a hardness of ± HRc 61 along the entire usable length of the blade, significantly exceeding the requirements of the German DIN standard. A self-developed polishing technique creates a surface free of grooves, allowing for a smooth cut and easier penetration into the wood. The chisels are factory-made with a cutting angle of 25°. This angle is excellent for soft to medium-hard woods. However, before the chisels are used for the first time, they should be worked on with a sharpening stone to achieve a razor-sharp edge for initial use. To ensure many years of successful work with the chisel, we recommend cleaning the tool with a lightly oiled cloth after each use. The oil film applied in this way protects the chisel from moisture and thus from rust. This significantly extends the tool's lifespan and enhances the enjoyment of using it.
