No, it does not. Advantage, when you have already batteries, the tools are lot cheaper. If you don't have, than you need to find a kit with battery, or buy separately. Separately bought battery is more expensive than a tool and battery combo. When a machine comes with battery, it is usually a smaller capacity one. (e.g.: 1.5 Ah) Stand alone batteries usually available in 5-6 Ah capacity. So just see what you need the tool for and decide:)
