The ermine inhabits forests, swamps, brushlands, and areas near rivers. Ermines are welcomed in many local communities because they are capable of controlling pests. Unfortunately, they are often preyed upon by hunters, as their fur is still popular in the fashion industry. Nevertheless, the population of ermines in the wild remains large and stable.
