In the Alps, farmers drive the cows to the alpine meadows in the summer. There, lush grass grows. The animals wear large bells that can be heard from afar. In late summer, the cows return to the valley during the "Almabtrieb." Cows are herd animals. During the day, they eat more than 50 kg of grass and can drink up to 180 liters of water. As a result, they can also produce up to 30 liters of milk a day, meaning they are milked up to twice daily. Cows produce milk to nurse their calves.
