The Andalusian is also referred to as "Pura raza española," which translates to "pure Spanish breed." It is a spirited yet very graceful and sensitive horse. The Andalusian was bred in the 15th century by monks in southern Spain. Few would suspect that the Andalusian was long used as a cavalry horse. While it has always been known for its bravery and strength, it is primarily its elegance that sets it apart. It is a unique dressage horse and even performs the famous levade, which is typically associated with the Haute École of the Lipizzaners.
