Here are the gaming highlights for June

Philipp Rüegg
1.6.2026
Translation: Patrik Stainbrook

June has kick-flips, armed coffee beans and flying foxes in store for gaming fans the world over.

In June 2016, Studio Playdead released Inside, the long-awaited sequel to indie hit Limbo. This month we’re also getting a few games with the potential to make history.

Fatekeeper

We’re kicking things off with a first-person action RPG. You’ll fight using a combination of swords and spells. Hurl barrels at fierce orcs, or better yet, hurl the orcs themselves over an edge. Visually, it’s already impressive. If the combat system can keep up, we’re all in for a fun fantasy adventure.

When: 2 June
Where: PC (early access)
Multiplayer: no

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

Game two in the remake trilogy of this legendary JRPG is coming to the Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S two years after its initial release. Just don’t let the excessive mini-games spoil your fun.

When: 3 June
Where: Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, already available for PS5 and PC
Multiplayer: no

The 7th Guest Remake

The 7th Guest Remake is the most impactful adventure game from the CD-ROM era, second only to Myst. It combined rendered content with footage of real actors to create a technically and atmospherically impressive murder mystery. The remake was made completely from scratch, and will be worth checking out, even for newcomers.

When: 4 June
Where: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 1, Switch 2
Multiplayer: no

Gothic 1 Remake

The Gothic series is known for its unique world filled with tough characters, limitless freedom and a tidal wave of bugs. Not a single game from German studio Piranha Bytes was complete without them, and yet they exuded a charm unlike any other role-playing game. Piranha Bytes is now a thing of the past; the game’s being developed by Spanish studio Alkimia Interactive. Things still look a bit buggy, but maybe it’s just the right amount.

When: 5 June
Where: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S
Multiplayer: no

Killer Bean

I have no idea if the concept of a talking, gun-toting coffee bean will be funny for more than an hour. The trailer gives strong 2000s shooter vibes – in a good way. If you enjoy slow-motion dives and corny lines, I’d definitely add it to your wish list.

When: 8 June
Where: PC (early access)
Multiplayer: no

Solarpunk

In this co-op survival game, you’ll explore floating islands in your airship. Along the way, you’ll gather resources, breed animals and build your dream home.

When: 8 June
Where: PC
Multiplayer: online co-op

NBA The Run

A basketball game that focuses on fun rather than realism. You’ll play streetball in teams of three, pulling off spectacular moves. The gameplay’s faster and more action-packed than the original, and it reminds me of the legendary NBA JAM for the SNES.

When: 9 June
Where: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S
Multiplayer: online PvP

Crushed In Time

A lighthearted point-and-click adventure game reminiscent of LucasArts classics like Day of the Tentacle. You’ll embark on a bizarre journey through time with Sherlock Holmes and his faithful companion Watson. It’s made by the same studio that developed the incredibly unique There Is No Game.

When: 10 June
Where: PC
Multiplayer: no

Beastro

On top of keeping his guests well fed, talented chef Panko also takes care of the ravenous monsters threatening his peaceful village. He won’t let them spoil his fun. By gathering different resources, you can cook delicious meals. New ingredients unlock cards for the decks of various Caretakers. They can then set off into the wilderness to battle monsters in a sort of puppet show.

When: 11 June
Where: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S
Multiplayer: no

Unrailed 2: Back on Track

After a year and a half in early access, version 1.0 of the chaotic co-op game is finally here. Aboard a moving train, you and your team have to lay tracks, gather resources and clear obstacles out of the way. By the way, Indoor Astronaut is a studio based in Switzerland.

When: 11 June (already available in early access)
Where: PC, PS5, Switch 1, Switch 2
Multiplayer: online co-op and PvP

Copa City

A soccer manager with a twist: forget about lineups and the right training regimen. In this game, you’ll organise matches for top clubs. From food and beverage services to entertainment and fan safety, every event’s success is in your hands.

When: 16 June
Where: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S
Multiplayer: no

Denshattack!

In this wacky game, you’ll control a train as it travels through colourful Japan. Along the way, you’ll pull off some crazy moves across the track. Busting out ollies, kick-flips and plenty of grinds, you’ll gradually climb the leaderboard. There’s no shortage of flamboyant bosses either. Walking castles, mechanical worms and, of course, normal enemy units all need to be put in their place.

When: 17 June
Where: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2
Multiplayer: no

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales

The style gives it away: the creators of Octopath Traveler are behind this upcoming release. With their signature HD-2D graphics, they’re telling a new fantasy story that’ll take you through four eras.

When: 18 June
Where: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2
Multiplayer: no

Dave the Diver – In the Jungle

The indie sensation that isn’t actually an indie game. Studio Mintrocket, which developed this cosy diving game, is owned by South Korean publisher Nexon. Now we’re getting a new DLC that throws Dave into the jungle. There, you’ll find a new restaurant with fresh dishes, a new ecosystem centred around a freshwater lake and various mini-games.

When: 18 June
Where: PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 1, Switch 2
Multiplayer: no

Hell Let Loose: Vietnam

Is this the Battlefield Vietnam fans have been waiting for for 20 years? Hell Let Loose is a multiplayer shooter that focuses on large-scale battles and a high degree of realism. Now the developer’s shifting its setting to the Vietnam War. Across six large-scale maps, two teams of 50 players in 17 specialised roles battle it out.

When: 18 June
Where: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S
Multiplayer: online PvP and co-op

R-Type Tactics I • II Cosmos

The spin-offs of this well-known bullet hell series were originally released for Sony’s PSP handheld console, and only in Japan at that. Now we’re getting remakes of both games, featuring updated graphics and plenty more improvements. Western players can now enjoy these turn-based strategy classics.

When: 18 June
Where: PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 1, Switch 2
Multiplayer: no

Star Fox

No one’s better at recycling old games than Nintendo. Instead of developing a new title, Nintendo’s rehashing the Nintendo 64 classic yet again. Fine, I’ll go along with it one time. Still, Star Fox isn’t just a boring HD remake, but a true reboot – featuring the same levels as nearly 30 years ago, of course.

When: 25 June
Where: Switch 2
Multiplayer: local co-op and online PvP

¹ Switch 1 version, also compatible with the Switch 2.

As a child, I wasn't allowed to have any consoles. It was only with the arrival of the family's 486 PC that the magical world of gaming opened up to me. Today, I'm overcompensating accordingly. Only a lack of time and money prevents me from trying out every game there is and decorating my shelf with rare retro consoles.
