Invasion of the bargain hunters

created on 21.3.2019

Galaxus.de has been around for less than half a year. No wonder not everyone knows us yet. Our offers regularly end up on the bargain portal Mydealz. And regularly cause a stir there. An open letter to the Mydealz community.

"Galaxus? Never heard of them! Are they reputable?" A question I've often encountered in the Mydealz forum. You are a very lively Community that deals with products in detail. You like to shop cheaply. That's actually the same thing we want.

Actually. We still have some problems with each other.

Problem 1: You don't know us yet

In fact, you can find lots of sex toys at Galaxus in Switzerland! Most recently, "Moby the Giant Dick" hit the headlines. Well, the handsome thing is indeed sensational. It may also be available on Galaxus.de one day.

Moment, stop. I'm just trying to get the message across that we're serious. You won't believe me anyway. But maybe the one or other advocate from your Community?

Problem 2: We actually had problems

We have failed. The NEC monitor for 60 euros was a mistake. The 10-TB NAS with 32 GB RAM for 37 euros remained a dream.

The problem was that we had automated tens of thousands of projects. You need to know that products are labelled with a unique number, the EAN (European Article Number). A product often has several EANs associated with it, for example for accessories or spare parts. This is where we made a mistake: When entering it into the database, an accessory was linked to the wrong product information and images of the monitor rather than the main product.

The monitor, which is selling for around €340, was mistakenly offered by us for €65.20. Of course, the offer immediately landed on Mydealz and was very popular. We recorded quite a few orders. But with the best will in the world, we can't afford hundreds of monitors at a loss of €270 each. As an online shop, we want to keep going for more than six months.

We have cancelled the orders and informed the buyers. The law is on our side in this case. Nevertheless, this has understandably caused a stir among you.

Of course we are sorry about this. Once again: sorry. We are not proud of this. We have upset customers with a mistake. We certainly don't do things like that on purpose.

Problem 3: Your problem, not ours

We distributed a voucher code for 20 euros in a newsletter. Unsuspecting and with good intentions.

You seem to work in such a way that you collect points when you post good offers. Someone posted the code on your site. Other members of your Community fished out all kinds of attractively priced products and added the one-time redeemable voucher. Again and again, until you found that this Galaxus appeared a little too often on Mydealz.

Dear Mydealz community: Please don't be angry with us. You've tripped yourselves up. Good news: The offer for new customers was only valid until 20 March and the problem has therefore been resolved.

Problem 4: Lack of relaxation

Harald, please don't do that! Our deal of the day is exactly what it says: a limited-quantity offer that's only valid for a short time. Don't be mad, subscribe to our newsletter so you can stay up to date on good offers! We're not stupid enough to ruin our reputation with bait-and-switch offers in a very short space of time.

In this sense, you are a great Community that picks out the best products at good prices. We don't always manage it, but we want exactly the same thing.

Let's be friends. Deal?
