Stephanie Oelmann has been with Galaxus in Krefeld (NRW) since the start in 2018. Today she is Group Leader Logistics and hardly anyone in the warehouse has an overview like hers. Stephie, you've been with Galaxus in Krefeld for three years, right from the start. What does your job look like?
I make sure that everything runs smoothly at the incoming goods department. Storage has to move quickly and my colleagues have to organise themselves accordingly. To do this, I regularly draw up the staffing plan. Sometimes things get stuck here and there, someone has a problem or an appointment, then we try to solve it together. I'm the mum with the open ear.

**Do you enjoy your work? **
Absolutely, I like organizing everything. It's demanding, but I find I'm in my element. With us, everyone can come as they are, everyone can be as they want to be. We communicate very openly at all levels, everyone really has a say. I don't know that from other companies.

Sounds great, but if everyone has a say, that can quickly become exhausting, can't it?
Maybe, but the advantages clearly outweigh the disadvantages, you have to feel comfortable at work. I also depend on people talking to me. It would be utopian to claim that I see everything. I think I have a good overview, but employees also sometimes suggest how we can do things differently. I can also row back sometimes if it makes sense, it's great when people think along with us.

Dowe have enough staff or are we looking for more people?
I've been with galaxus.de for three years now and there has never been a time when we didn't need new people, the growth is strong. We are still looking for staff in Krefeld and in Hamburg as well. In Krefeld we are looking for logisticians who really enjoy the warehouse and are all-rounders. It's rare that you only work one specific position here. At Galaxus you sometimes work at the incoming goods department or sometimes in the packaging department when the bear is stirring. It can be very versatile. What we don't need is a bunch of duck-dicks. People have to want to change things and shouldn't be afraid to come up with ideas for improvement. For that to work, you have to be sure that you can say what you think.

We also work with temporary employment agencies, don't we? I imagine it's difficult to come up with suggestions for improvement when I've only been there for a few weeks and know that I'll soon be gone again?
Sure, it's hard to do when you're new. But I'm glad that we also take on temporary staff for the long term if it suits them. In December, for example, we took on two permanent employees. That's a good sign for us because they obviously identify with our corporate culture. Because often they would have had other options. But for some of them, we're not a good fit either; they might not be able to cope with the looseness or the fast pace. Some always want to be told exactly what to do and have problems with change. They're not in the right place with us, and that's okay.

**Galaxus Germany introduced EDU points**in the summer. Have you ever used them?
Yes, we have several people here who have already bought specialist literature from the EDU Points, and I'm planning to do the same - next year I'll be doing further training in the management area. I think it's great that Galaxus lets people decide for themselves what they want to use the money for. That's not something you can take for granted.

What about your free time? Do you have enough opportunities to enjoy it? How do you spend it?
Most of all with my daughter, of course! At Christmas, with all the stress of work, she sometimes misses out, but we make up for it. Otherwise I meet my band once a week. We don't have a name yet and we've only finished two songs, but it's a great balance to my job, it's a lot of fun, no matter how tired I am at the moment.

Guitar and vocals. We are still at the beginning, unfortunately nothing to see online yet.
