X4 Pro 5G and M4 Pro: Poco unveils two mid-range smartphones at MWC 2022
Poco presented two new smartphones at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The X4 Pro 5G and M4 Pro are mid-range devices with top features shining through at some points.
Poco is a brand of Xiaomi and mainly launches inexpensive smartphones on the market. The X4 Pro 5G and the M4 Pro have some similarities, but they also differ in important aspects.
4G or 5G, 90 or 120 hertz, 33 or 67 watts.
The differences include the installed processors. Both clearly position the smartphones in the mid-range, but the Snapdragon 695 in the X4 Pro has a 5G modem. The Mediatek G96 in the M4 Pro only establishes 4G connections. However, both processors are supported by six or eight gigabytes of working memory depending on the model variant.
The AMOLED displays of both smartphones have a resolution of 2400×1080 pixels. The maximum refresh rate of the 6.67-inch touchscreen of the X4 Pro is 120 hertz, whereas the 6.43-inch screen of the M4 Pro is only 90 hertz.
Apart from the main camera - 108 megapixels on the X4 Pro and 64 megapixels on the M4 Pro - the camera setup is identical: 8-megapixel wide-angle camera, 2-megapixel macro camera and a 16-megapixel front camera.
The 5000 mAh batteries in each case are charged at different rates. In the X4 Pro with 67 watts and in the M4 Pro with 33 watts.
The two new Poco smartphones are protected against splashing water according to IP53. The internal storage is 128 or 256 gigabytes. They have a USB-C and a 3.5 mm port. As software, Xiaomi refers to the user interface "MIUI 13 for Poco", but does not name an Android version.
Price and availability
Both smartphones are supposed to be available as early as March 2. The following recommended retail prices apply for Germany:
- Poco X4 Pro 5G: 299 euros (6/128 GB) and 349 euros (8/256 GB).
- Poco M4 Pro: 229 euro (6/128 GB) 279 euro (8/256 GB)
I currently do not have any information on prices for Switzerland.
