The Edimax GS-1008P V2 is an 8 PoE+ port Gigabit switch designed for use in small to medium-sized networks. With the help of eight DIP switches, PoE ports can be manually configured through on/off control, extending the PoE delivery distance up to 200 meters and supporting port-based on/off control for VLAN and QoS. PoE-enabled devices such as Wi-Fi access points, network cameras, and IP phones, as well as other Ethernet-capable devices like computers, printers, and network-attached storage (NAS), can easily be connected to the network and powered through the switch. With its compact dimensions and quiet operation, the device is ideal for expanding networks at home or in small businesses.

The GS-1008P V2 features eight IEEE 802.3at Power over Ethernet (PoE+)-ports that deliver up to 30 W per port. It converts the electricity standard of 100-240V AC into low-voltage electricity of 50 - 57V DC over LAN cables, powering connected network products that comply with the IEEE802.3at standard. The GS-1008P V2 automatically detects PoE and determines whether the connected device meets the IEEE802.3at or 802.3af standard. If a PoE device is not detected, only network data is transmitted over the LAN cable, simplifying the setup and management of network devices such as access points.

The built-in DIP switch provides advanced operating modes at switches 1, 2, 5, 6, and 7. The GS-1008P V2 operates as a "standard" IEEE 802.at/af PoE switch when the DIP switches are off. When turned on, the GS-1008P V2 operates on a per-port basis with 10 Mbps duplex operation but can support 30-watt PoE power over a distance of up to 200 meters, exceeding the 100 m limit for Ethernet UTP cables.
