The Ixxat USB-to-CAN V2 compact is a straightforward and cost-effective way to connect a computer to a CAN bus network and serves as a highly reliable workhorse for CAN applications, such as testing, development, maintenance, or control applications. By utilizing powerful, high-quality, durable hardware and connecting via native USB 2.0 Hi-Speed (480 MBit/s) and a 9-pin D-Sub connector for CAN, the converter achieves a very high data throughput with minimal latency and power consumption. An exceptionally accurate timestamp resolution of just 1 microsecond allows for lossless sending and receiving of standard and extended CAN messages on the CAN bus, enabling filtering and buffering of CAN messages for very precise CAN recording and monitoring. A comprehensive and stable driver and software package is available for the USB-to-CAN V2 compact, which can be downloaded for free. The Ixxat driver packages for Windows (VCI) as well as Linux, VxWorks, and QNX (ECI) also allow for use in existing applications without software modification. The APIs for CANopen and SAE J1939 also support the USB-to-CAN V2 device family. The VCI V4 (Virtual Communication Interface) is the driver interface for Ixxat interfaces under Windows and can be downloaded for free. Based on the VCI, custom applications for communication over CAN, CAN-FD, LIN, and Industrial Ethernet can be developed.
