To lock the drive, simply disconnect it from the host computer, and all data stored on the device will be encrypted with military-grade 256-bit hardware encryption using AES-XTS (full disk encryption). One of the unique underlying security features of the GDPR-compliant diskAshur2 is the dedicated, hardware-based secure microprocessor (CC EAL4+ capable), which utilizes integrated physical protection mechanisms to guard against external tampering, bypass attacks, and more. The device responds to an attack by switching to a frozen lock status. Simply put: no access is possible without the PIN! No speed loss – as fast as unencrypted drives. Auto-lock: The diskAshur2 automatically locks when it is unplugged from the host computer or when power to the USB port is disconnected. It can also be set to automatically lock after a certain period of inactivity.
