Product details
These cables are suitable for all fiber optic applications in various areas of telecommunications. Typical application areas include patching in data centers, server or network cabinets, as well as in FTTH (Fiber to the Home). By using single-mode ferrules for the Lightwin multimode patch cables and specially selected ferrules with minimal tolerances for the Lightwin single-mode patch cables, attenuation values are achieved that far exceed the required standards according to ISO/IEC. Equivalent terms for fiber optic patch cables can include patch cables, adapter cables, connection cables, and jumpers.
Multimode fibers have a larger core diameter than single-mode fibers. This results in more light refraction and thus greater attenuation. They are therefore particularly suitable for shorter transmission distances. The OM designation of a fiber optic cable defines the quality class of a multimode fiber optic cable. The classification distinguishes four classes (OM1 to OM4). The distinction is made based on the level of optical attenuation and the possible transmission rate and distance. The fiber categories OM3 and OM4 are intended for high-speed applications such as (10/40/100-)Gigabit Ethernet or Fibre Channel at 850 nm. OM3-class multimode fibers have an Effective Modal Bandwidth (EMB) of 2 GHz x km. The LC connector is a high-performance fiber optic connector for single-mode and multimode applications, characterized by low insertion loss. It is one of the most common types of fiber optic connectors. The design of the LC connector is based on a single-fiber ceramic ferrule with a diameter of 1.25 mm for a fiber optic cable. Due to its compact design, the LC connector allows for high packing density, making it frequently used for fiber optic switches.
