Cat 6 cables are designed for operating frequencies of up to 250 MHz. They are used for signal transmission with high data transfer rates (1 Gbps). Due to the high signal frequencies, special care must be taken during installation and assembly, particularly at the connection points of the wires. The individual wire pairs in Cat 6 are twisted with varying tightness, which further reduces susceptibility to interference compared to Cat 5e. Applications for Cat 6 cables include voice and data transmission as well as multimedia and ATM networks. Even more powerful are cables according to Cat 6e (500 MHz) and Cat 6a (625 MHz). Slim patch cables offer a significant advantage when wiring racks and 48-port switches. Their extremely thin design and great flexibility help avoid cable clutter and maintain organization.
