Questions about Creative Sound Blaster AE-7

I have a relatively good headset with integrated DAC (Razer Thresher 7.1. Ultimate, no jack plug, USB). So far I use this with an onboard sound card, mainly for gaming. Since I want to get a new PC: Would the above Soundblaster AE-7 add value to this setup? Or would I necessarily have to buy headphones without their own DAC? As you can see, I have little to no experience with external sound cards, so I'm not an audiophile (but: what isn't can still be). Many thanks for your help!

Yes, you need a headset with a jack plug. Without it, the sound card does not interfere. So it would be unnecessary in your case.

Because of the crazy price increase, I looked elsewhere and ordered the AE-9 directly from creative for 35 francs more. That's fine with me...

The card was previously in the range but seems to be discontinued.

Does anyone have any tips on the best way to set up the Sound Command App? Because despite a relatively good headset, I'm somehow not 100 per cent convinced. Especially when it comes to gaming in FPS games. I have the feeling that it was almost more accurate before with on board. But I'm almost certain that this is due to my settings. With music, no question, you absolutely notice the extra power. But I primarily used it for gaming. Many thanks

I have a different setup in the meantime, but I would recommend turning off all effects except surround under the SBX profile because they simply distort the sound too much. I set the surround control somewhere between 25 and 67 depending on the game, you can see what suits you best. for music you can also turn it off completely, or if you just want to have stereo like with onboard sound. if you long for more bass (EXPLOSIONS) you can adjust it with the equalizer, so in the 30hz-150hz range, otherwise I would also leave it off. hope that helps a little :) (by the way, the microphone also suffers quite a bit from all these voice clarity effects, it also sounds better when you turn it off).
