it's been a long time since i bought this plug but to my knowledge i didn't have to cut it away the combination fitted without any problems
It shouldn't be a problem as long as there's not a single gap between the two pieces, and that there is not too much humidity around the plug.
The high price is for those people who do not know their rights and iron out possible mistakes by Digitec at their own expense... ;-)

Digitec (or any other Swiss dealer) is obliged to deliver electrical appliances with a Swiss plug. If the appliance is supplied with a foreign plug, a suitable replacement cable should be supplied if the mains cable is pluggable or alternatively if the mains cable is permanently connected, a suitable adapter should be supplied.
If the appliance is delivered without a suitable plug, complain to the customer service and insist on a cable or an adapter, free of charge.
