Hi Noel Technically yes BUT the Windows version you have on the M.2 will recognise that the serial number of the mainboard is different and start to tell you that the version is no longer on the same computer. If you have linked your Windows 10 key with an online Microsoft account, this problem can be solved by deleting the old PC from the licences in the Microsoft account. ATTENTION: It is highly recommended to read the product key on the old PC with a Windows 10 product key reader in order to reactivate the old Windows 10 version on the new PC. You can also do this on your new PC and use the Windows 10 product key as desired. You should also remove the new M.2 in the new PC first, otherwise the PC will boot the new operating system. Alternatively, you can also use an image programme like this one Acronis True Image 2021 Box 1 (Unlimited, 1x, Android, iOS, Windows, macOS) to make an image of your old computer and copy it back to the new one. It is then virtually a one-to-one copy. However, I would recommend that you only transfer the data you really need to the new device. It's a clean thing to do and you can usually reinstall the programmes you need without further ado. Greetings John

Most mainboards come with a cooler, which is quite sufficient. Mounted on a mainboard without a cooler is also sufficient if the enclosure is well ventilated. The SSD has 2 temperature sensors, so you can see if the SSD is getting too warm. Temperatures <80 degrees are completely OK.

Yes, it works, but not in the way you imagine. You have two small M.2 slots on the mainboard, both can be used, but I would take the one closer to the CPU. Of course, you can also buy an additional PCIe adapter and plug the SSD in like this... But that doesn't do anything except that you spend more money ;-)

Hello Atm01, I have installed four such bars, Samsung 970 EVO Plus, on my board, Asus Maximus Extreme XI. After 12 hours of continuous operation, they have an average temperature of 41.5 degrees. This seems to me to be the normal temperature for such SSDs. I think it's more likely due to the fan system on the case with the corresponding supply and exhaust air. But 50 to 55 degrees is not a critical issue. Greetings Skunky77

I bought this for a gaming laptop because of space. Works great. You probably will not notice the difference apart from a second or two on boot but at the moment there is a 4 CHF difference between the 870 2TB and the 870 EVO plus so go for the M2

Samsung Electronics GmbH Hello, Thank you very much for your request. If your motherboard has an M.2 slot, you can use this SSD. To be able to use the full performance of the SSD, the M.2 slot should have PCIe 3.0 with 4 lanes. If in doubt, please contact the device manufacturer directly. Best regards from Schwalbach, Your Samsung Service Team

Hello Unfortunately, I have no experience with a laptop. I have installed this SSD in an HP Desktop mini and it has been running perfectly since installation.

Samsung Electronics GmbH Hello, Thank you for your enquiry. The Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus is not compatible with the iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5, 2017 - iMac18.2). This SSD can be used if the motherboard has an M.2 slot. To use the full performance of the SSD, the M.2 slot should have PCIe 3.0 with 4 lanes. Alternatively, we recommend the Samsung 870 QVO, 870 EVO, 860 PRO. If in doubt, please enquire directly with Apple support. Kind regards from Schwalbach Your Samsung Service Team

To be able to use the full performance of the SSD, the M.2 slot should have PCIe 3.0 with 4 lanes. If in doubt, please contact the device manufacturer directly. To find the right SSD for you and your system, take a look at the "SSD Configurator" on the Samsung homepage. With a few short questions and in just a few minutes, we will find the right SSD for you. To do this, please go directly to the Samsung homepage and place the mouse pointer over the "Computer" category, which is listed in the upper part of the screen. Under the category "Recommended" you will find the "SSD Configurator", which you should select. Alternatively, you can find the "SSD Configurator" by simply typing "Samsung - Which SSD is right for me?" into a search engine. On the following pages you will be asked about your system and your personal requirements in order to find the right product for you. Regarding your question about the SSD not overheating during operation, we can tell you that the drive module of the 970 EVO PLus is equipped with a thin heat spreader, and the Dynamic Thermal Guard function constantly monitors the drive. An optimal temperature is thus maintained. Best regards from Schwalbach, Your Samsung Service Team

Does anyone use them in a NAS (e.g. Synology DS920+)? In which applications can you notice a noticeable improvement in speed? I use the NAS mainly for backups (in the direction of the NAS), VM's (Ubuntu, Ubuntu Server) and Docker (the RAM has already been increased to a flawlessly functioning 20gb), I would also like to try out using it as a private cloud (possibly Synology Drive or Nextcloud). I regularly make backups from the NAS to an ext. HD and to an outsourced NAS. Would Chache lead to an increase in speed in these cases? The NAS also serves as a multimedia centre, but not often. Possibly the one or other film that we like to watch more often would load faster (although the system already reacts quite quickly). With the write function of the cache, I would like the backups to be faster, but I don't know if the cache is of any use at all, currently the WLAN write rate (directly from the computer to the NAS) is between 50 and 80 mb/s and with LAN about 110 mb/s (1gbit network). Can I expect a speed increase with the use of M.2 SSD cache? The NAS should get faster the more HD's are installed (because the data is spread over several HD's and when reading/writing data, several HD's are busy with the read/write process at the same time than if the data was only on one HD and only one HD had to do the whole job...). For example, I have three Toshiba N300 HDs installed and they spin faster than usual. I wonder whether, taking into account the overall infrastructure (WLAN speed and 1gbit network), a fourth, identical HD (e.g. for the backup process?) would bring more speed (apart from the additional storage space that would then be available) than if I were to retrofit cache?
